DUO Onimasu Kagura 77F – floating salmon minnow for shallow rapids 77 mm 7.5 g

DUO Onimasu Kagura 77F is a Japanese-designed floating minnow created for salmon and sea-trout fishing in fast-flowing rivers. The experience of Japanese salmon angler Toshiaki Sawada contributed to its development. Its body balance and lip design are tuned for demanding river conditions, while the 77 mm profile remains easy to control in narrower and shallower sections. It is also effective for large trout.
Key features. The broad, active wobbling action characteristic of the Kagura family remains effective even at slow retrieve speeds. The lure responds quickly to changes in flow and maintains its action against, across or with the current. A moving-weight system stabilises flight and improves castability, while the floating body gradually rises during a pause.
Action and application. Retrieve the Kagura 77F steadily, work it across the current, guide it downstream or add short twitches. Because it floats, the lure can be drifted downstream to a selected holding area that cannot be reached directly with a cast. Its 0.6–0.9 m running depth suits shallow rapids, rocky water, current seams and areas above vegetation. Before a rock, submerged branch or aquatic plants, pause and allow the lure to rise over the obstacle before continuing the retrieve. The rising lure also imitates a weakened baitfish moving towards the surface. It is designed primarily for salmon and sea trout and is also suitable for large trout.
Why choose it:
• 77 mm, 7.5 g floating minnow for salmon and sea trout;
• broad, active action remains effective even at slow retrieve speeds;
• moving-weight system improves casting distance and accuracy;
• before an obstacle, the lure can be allowed to rise above rocks, submerged branches or aquatic plants;
• the floating lure can be drifted downstream to a selected fishing spot.

77F or 77S? Both models are 77 mm long, but their roles differ. The 77F weighs 7.5 g, runs at approximately 0.6–0.9 m and rises on the pause, making it easier to work through shallow rocky water and above vegetation. The 12.5 g 77S sinks, reaches approximately 0.8–1.1 m and holds a selected layer more effectively. Choose the 77F when shallow presentation and the ability to lift the lure over obstacles are the priorities.
