DUO Spearhead Ryuki 60S is a compact sinking minnow developed for trout fishing in fast-flowing rivers. In Lithuania it is also used successfully for asp. Its 60 mm profile is especially useful when predators are feeding on baitfish that have grown through the summer but remain relatively small. The 6.5 g weight and compact shape support long, accurate casts.
Key features. A flat-sided body, semi-long lip and low-centre fixed weight keep the lure stable in current. Ryuki 60S starts working quickly, maintains its action as retrieve speed increases and responds precisely to short rod movements. The fixed weight does not rattle inside the body, and the lure retains the same balance throughout the retrieve.
Action and application. On a steady retrieve, Ryuki 60S produces an active rolling action. Short twitches make it dart sharply and imitate disoriented baitfish in the flow. It can be worked upstream, across the current or downstream. The sinking body lets anglers select the working level through countdown time, current strength, retrieve speed and rod angle.
Why choose it:
• 60 mm, 6.5 g sinking minnow;
• developed for trout and also effective for asp;
• maintains a stable action in current and at higher retrieve speeds;
• darts sharply when twitched;
• a practical size as baitfish grow from midsummer into autumn.
Specifications. Model – Spearhead Ryuki 60S; length – 60 mm; weight – 6.5 g; type – minnow; buoyancy – sinking (S); weight system – fixed, low centre of gravity; hooks – two #10 trebles; approximate working range – 0.4–0.8 m; actual depth depends on countdown, current and retrieve speed; manufacturer – DUO Co., Ltd.
Retrieve options. For asp, Ryuki 60S is usually worked with a fast steady retrieve, especially when fish are feeding on smaller baitfish. After casting across the flow, guide the lure through an arc while maintaining direct contact. For trout, use a steady retrieve with short twitches and pauses. When retrieving downstream, reel fast enough for the lip to keep gripping the water and the lure to maintain its action.
Other Ryuki models. The core Spearhead Ryuki sinking range includes the 45S (4 g), 50S (4.5 g), 60S (6.5 g), 70S (9 g), 80S (12 g), 95S (15 g) and 110S (21 g). The 45–60 mm sizes are selected mainly for trout, although the 60S is also effective for asp. From midsummer into autumn, anglers often move from the 60S to the 70S, 80S or 95S as the baitfish grow.
