DUO Spearhead Ryuki 70S – popular sinking minnow for asp 70 mm 9 g

DUO Spearhead Ryuki 70S is one of the most popular asp lures in Lithuania. Its 70 mm profile matches the baitfish targeted by asp, while the 9 g weight and compact body support long, accurate casts. The lure is built for fast retrieves and maintains a stable action even when worked against strong current. It also suits salmon and, in Scandinavia, Arctic char and rainbow trout.
Key features. A flat-sided body, semi-long lip and low-centre fixed weight keep the lure stable in strong, uneven current. It starts working immediately, responds precisely to rod input and maintains its action as retrieve speed increases. The compact body shape and balanced weight distribution provide long, accurate casts.
Action and application. Ryuki 70S produces an active rolling action on a fast steady retrieve while tracking reliably even against powerful current. Short twitches make it change direction sharply. The sinking body allows anglers to select the working level through countdown time, current strength, retrieve speed and rod angle.
Why choose it:
• 70 mm, 9 g sinking minnow;
• one of the most popular asp lures in Lithuania;
• designed for fast retrieves without losing its action;
• tracks reliably even when retrieved against strong current;
• suitable for asp, salmon, Arctic char and rainbow trout.
Specifications. Model – Spearhead Ryuki 70S; length – 70 mm; weight – 9 g; type – minnow; buoyancy – sinking (S); weight system – fixed, low centre of gravity; hooks – two #10 trebles; approximate working range – 0.6–1.0 m; actual depth depends on countdown, current and retrieve speed; manufacturer – DUO Co., Ltd.
Retrieve options. For asp, Ryuki 70S is usually worked with a fast steady retrieve. It remains stable and active even when retrieved against strong current. After casting across the flow, guide the lure through an arc while maintaining direct contact. For salmon and trout, use a steady retrieve with occasional short twitches and pauses. When retrieving downstream, reel fast enough for the lip to keep gripping the water.
Other Ryuki models. The core Spearhead Ryuki sinking range includes 45S, 50S, 60S, 70S, 80S, 95S and 110S. Compact 45–60 mm models are selected mainly for trout, while 70–95 mm sizes are especially popular for asp in Lithuania. The 80S has a larger 12 g profile, while the 95S weighs 15 g. The 70S SW Limited retains the 70 mm and 9 g specifications but is a saltwater-oriented version with marine colours and corresponding hardware.
