: St. Croix Legend Elite ES68MXF – one-piece spinning rod for jigging and light twitching 6 ft 8 in 3/16–5/8 oz Extra Fast

St. Croix Legend Elite ES68MXF is a sensitive one-piece 6 ft 8 in Medium spinning rod rated for 3/16–5/8 oz lures. Its Extra Fast action suits jigging and light twitching: the blank clearly transmits lure movement, bottom contact and bites, while allowing short and precise movements of small and medium hard lures. The compact length is especially convenient from a boat. The model suits zander, perch and pike fishing.
Blank and technologies. The main section of the blank uses high-modulus SCV carbon, while the lower section is reinforced with super-high-modulus SCVI carbon. SCV and SCVI carbon with FRS provide strength while keeping weight low. IPC creates a smoother blank taper, while TET refines its profile and bending curve. ART reinforces high-stress areas and helps the blank resist ovalisation under heavy load. The one-piece blank has no ferrule, so no joint interrupts its bending curve.
Action and application. Under a light load, the Extra Fast blank works mainly through its upper section. This allows short, sharp movements of small and medium hard lures during light twitching and clearly transmits jig movement and bottom contact. The 6 ft 8 in length is convenient from a boat and where accurate casting and lure control matter more than maximum distance. Medium power and the 3/16–5/8 oz rating suit soft plastics, hard lures, spinners and spoons. As the load increases, the middle and lower sections engage to cushion sudden fish surges.

How ES68MXF compares with other Legend Elite rods. ES63MXF is a shorter 6 ft 3 in Medium Extra Fast model rated for 1/8–1/2 oz lures. ES610MXF is 6 ft 10 in long but shares the Medium power, Extra Fast action, 3/16–5/8 oz lure rating and 6–12 lb line rating of ES68MXF. ES70MF is a longer 7 ft Medium model with the same lure range but a Fast action. ES68MXF combines a compact one-piece 6 ft 8 in blank with an Extra Fast action, making it particularly well suited to boat jigging and light twitching.
