  • Pontoon21 TabaTao 50F-SSR is an unusually designed shallow-running crankbait. At 50 mm and 11.3 g, it has a compact profile but is heavier and more substantial than many lures of a similar length.

    TabaTao should not be considered a typical chub lure. In many situations it is relatively large and heavy for chub, but it can be a very good option on large rivers where bigger chub are present and long casting is important. Its broader application is for perch and smaller pike in shallow water.

    One of the most distinctive elements of TabaTao is its unusual rattle chamber and internal weighting. The rattle chamber is built as a spherical steel capsule containing three types of freely moving metal balls. This creates a distinctive acoustic effect without compromising the lure's stability.

    TabaTao remains stable in still water and current. Even on a more active retrieve it maintains controlled action, allowing it to be used confidently in different conditions.

    The compact body and 11.3 g weight provide excellent casting performance. The lure casts far and maintains a stable flight path, including when casting into the wind. This is particularly useful on large rivers, broad shallows and whenever fish are holding farther from the bank.

    TabaTao 50F-SSR is an ultra-shallow-running version with a stated running depth of 0.2–0.4 m. On a slow retrieve it maintains stable action close to the surface, making it useful over shallow flats, submerged vegetation and shallow cover.

    Its buoyancy is balanced so the lure rises when the retrieve is stopped without shooting rapidly to the surface. This makes it suitable for cover-cranking presentations: contacting shallow obstacles, allowing the lure to deflect or rise away from them, and then continuing the retrieve.

    The front and rear treble-hook hangers are positioned relatively far apart. This reduces the chance of the hooks tangling with each other and allows some flexibility in hook size.
