Pontoon21 CrackJack 98F-MR is a 98 mm, 15.3 g floating (F) minnow lure with a running depth of 1.3–1.7 m. This versatile Medium Runner version is excellent for pike and is also successfully used for salmon fishing in rivers.
The CrackJack series combines active built-in action with excellent control. The 98F-MR can be fished with a steady retrieve, stop-and-go, twitching and various mixed presentations. It starts working quickly and maintains stable action as retrieve speed changes.
The lure features the MFB (Magnetic Force Balance) system. During the cast, the moving weight shifts toward the tail, improving flight stability and casting distance. Once the retrieve begins, the weight returns to its working position and is held by a magnet. This is particularly useful in river fishing, where accurate and sufficiently long casts are often required.
CrackJack 98F-MR remains stable in both still water and current. Its stability in flowing water and practical 98 mm profile make it suitable not only for pike but also for river salmon. Retrieve speed can be adjusted to the strength and character of the current.
The MR running depth of 1.3–1.7 m allows anglers to cover medium-depth river sections, deeper current lanes, channel edges and other productive areas. In lakes and reservoirs, this depth is useful along submerged vegetation, slopes and areas where pike are holding below the surface.
As a floating F model, the lure rises when the retrieve is stopped. This can be used during pauses, when passing obstacles or when allowing the lure to rise above submerged vegetation.
The 98 mm size is highly practical. It creates a noticeable target for pike and salmon while remaining compact and easy to control. Depending on conditions, anglers can use a steady retrieve, accelerations, stop-and-go or more active twitching.
