St. Croix Legend Elite ES70LF2 is a sensitive 7 ft two-piece Light spinning rod rated for 1/16–1/4 oz lures. Designed primarily for perch, its Fast action clearly transmits light-jig movement, bottom contact and subtle bites. The model also suits trout and chub fishing with small soft plastics, hard lures, spinners and spoons. Its 7 ft length is convenient both from the bank and from a boat.
Blank and technologies. The main section of the blank uses high-modulus SCV carbon, while the lower section is reinforced with super-high-modulus SCVI carbon. SCV and SCVI carbon with FRS provide strength while keeping weight low. IPC creates a smoother blank taper, while TET refines its profile and bending curve. ART reinforces high-stress areas and helps the blank resist ovalisation under heavy load. A slim-profile ferrule joins the two blank sections and helps preserve a smooth loading curve.
Action and application. Under a light load, the Fast-action blank works mainly through its upper section and clearly transmits light-jig movement, bottom contact and subtle bites. The Fast action supports a quick hook-set, while the middle and lower sections engage progressively as the load increases to cushion sudden surges. Light power and the 1/16–1/4 oz rating suit small soft plastics, hard lures, spinners and spoons. It is a precise and responsive rod for perch and other species targeted with light lures.

How ES70LF2 compares with other Legend Elite rods. ES70LF and ES70LF2 share the same length, Light power, Fast action, lure rating and line rating. ES70LF is one-piece, while ES70LF2 is two-piece and therefore easier to transport and store. ES70MLF2 is the same length but more powerful, rated for 1/8–3/8 oz lures and 4–10 lb line. ES70MF2 is rated for 3/16–5/8 oz lures and 6–12 lb line. ES70LF2 is the better choice when detecting the movement of a light lure and a cautious perch bite matters most.
